Itinerary

J. 1 Arrival in Sagres

Sagres is a beautiful city located at the southwestern tip of Portugal. It is known for its beautiful beaches, picturesque coastal cliffs and rich history.

Relax on the beaches: Sagres has some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. Among the most popular are Praia da Mareta, Praia do Tonel and Praia do Beliche.

Visit the fishing port of Baleeira: it is the main fishing port of Sagres and it is an ideal place to see the local fishermen bring their catch back. You can also visit the fish market and buy fresh seafood. Enjoy local cuisine: Sagres is known for its seafood, and there are many restaurants in town that serve fresh fish and other local dishes.

Walk along the cliffs: Sagres is located on a rocky peninsula and several hiking trails along the cliffs offer stunning views of the sea and coastline.


J. 2 From Sagres to Lagos passing by Cap Saint Vincent

Lagos: The old town of Lagos is a charming place with its narrow streets, historic buildings and small squares. You can easily explore the city by bike and discover its many churches, museums and restaurants.

Visit the Lagos Municipal Market, a lively place where you can discover local products such as fruits, vegetables, fish and fresh seafood. You can buy ingredients to prepare a picnic for your bike ride.

Take a walk along the coast: Lagos is located on a beautiful coast and the walk along the sea is a nice way to discover the coastal landscapes of the city. You can cycle to the Parking da Ponte da Piedade, then take a walk and admire the rock formations.

Lagos has beautiful beaches, and some of them are accessible by bike. You can stop at the beaches of Dona Ana, Meia Praia and Porto de Mós to rest, swim or sunbathe.


J. 3 From Lagos to Lagoa

Lagoa is a small town located about 5 km from the coast, known for its traditional architecture and pottery. Explore the city, visit the pottery shops and the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Luz, a 16th century church with a beautiful interior.

Jour. 4 From Lagoa to praia da Falesia

Praia da Falesia is a beautiful beach known for its long stretch of golden sand, crystal clear waters and beautiful red cliffs that surround the beach. Once at the beach, you can stroll along the soft sand, swim in the refreshing waters or relax and sunbathe on the beach. You can also explore the impressive cliffs that line the beach with stunning views of the ocean and surrounding landscape.


J. 5 From Falesia to Olhão

Olhão is a historic town with a rich maritime culture. It is known for its fish and seafood market, which is one of the largest in Portugal. The market is located in the city centre and is a popular meeting place for locals and tourists.

In addition to its lively market, Olhão also offers beautiful islands, including the island of Armona and Culatra, accessible by ferry from the port. The city is also located in the heart of the Ria Formosa, a protected nature reserve with a wide variety of birds and other wild animals.

Olhão, known as the cubic city has interesting architecture, with historic buildings such as the church Nossa Senhora do Rosário and the Capela dos Ossos, a small chapel decorated with human bones.

The saltworks of Olhão are easily accessible by bike. There are several hiking trails that meander through the salt pans, offering magnificent views of the salt marshes and nearby islands.

The salt pans are a privileged place for bird watching, with more than 150 different species that have been recorded, including pink flamingos, white stilts, grey herons and garzette egrets. In addition to bird watching, the guided tour of the salt pans will allow you to discover the process of salt production.

Tavira is a city full of charm and history that deserves a visit to discover its cultural and natural heritage. Here are some of the things to discover in Tavira:

Tavira Castle: Located on a hill overlooking the city, Tavira Castle is a historic monument dating from the 13th century. Visiting this castle is a great way to discover the history of the city and enjoy a breathtaking view of the surroundings.

The church of Santa Maria: This 18th century baroque church is a magnificent example of the religious architecture of the time. It also houses a beautiful collection of religious art.

The Roman Bridge: This Roman-era stone bridge connects the two banks of the Gilão River. It is an iconic symbol of the city and a great place to take photos.

Tavira Municipal Museum: This museum features a collection of local art and historical artifacts, including paintings, sculptures and archaeological artifacts.

The Fado was inscribed as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2011 in recognition of its cultural and historical importance for Portugal and the world.
